Christmas 2011 Recap part 1

So Christmas has came and gone already. Of course I have not made a single blog post since. So I figured I should start recapping my Christmas.

I figured I would start with my Christmas decorations (which are already put away :-(.)

Our bathroom

Our Bedroom

Our Living Room

 The Kitchen/Dining room

Our Christmas Tree

 Our new Christmas 2011 Ornaments

We also got a couple new 2011 ornaments from my mom for Christmas.
Those will be in the new recap post.

The next recap post will be of the Gingerbread house I made, what we did Christmas Eve, and what we did Christmas day.

Christmas Card

So I did not make a Christmas card in enough time to order and mail out this year. I did buy blank Christmas cards and wrote in them from my family. Then I handed them out to my dad's side of the family at our Christmas party on December 11th. We took some cute pictures that day, so today I decided to play on Photoshop. I played around and made our own photo Christmas card. We don't have big enough photo paper so I can not print them out to give to my family on Christmas :-(.

So here is our Christmas card for this year:
I really like it and of course my boyfriend helped by giving me some points since He knows more about Photoshop then I do.

I may email it to people and post it on Facebook since I don't have big enough photo paper to print it.

Merry Christmas

Christmas Quiz

I saw the idea for the Christmas Quiz on Meagan's Blog and thought it would be a fun thing to do on my blog.

1. Eggnog or hot chocolate?
Hot Chocolate with whipped cream. I've never had Eggnog.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree?
Santa always wrapped the presents.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
We would go cut down our tree every year as a kid. So my mom would switch between colored and white every year. I like both but white is my favorite. This year I bought a fake pre-lit tree with my boyfriend. I wanted white but the tree in white that I like was sold out. So we bought a tree we liked with colored lights.

We don't have lights on our house.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
No.

5. When do you put your decorations up?
Some time after Thanksgiving.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish?
My mom's homemade candy and ham and mashed potatoes.

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
Probably going to my grandma's cabin in the mountains every year when I was little. Or getting that one toy I always wanted.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?

Oh I still believe of course :-)

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
We would get to open one gift on Christmas Eve when I was little. Usually Christmas pjs to wear.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
first lights (unless it is pre-lighted), then ornaments.

11. Snow! Love it or dread it?
Love it, but sadly it hardly ever snows here. I have to go to the mountains to see snow.

12. Can you ice skate?
I've only ice skated once in my life. But I only fell twice so I think I did pretty good.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
When I was a kid probably some Barbie toy. More recently probably my camera.

14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Being with family. Celebrating the birth of Jesus. As a kid looking for Santa.

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
My mom's homemade candy and cookies: Bon Bons, almond roca, candy walnuts, gingerbread cookies, sugar cookies.

My grandma's green Christmas tree cookies (which she did not make this year very upsetting lol.)

Pumpkin pie.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Holiday parities with family and friends.
Reading Twas' The Night Before Christmas every Christmas Eve. Listening to Christmas music as I fall asleep on Christmas Eve. Baking with my mom and decorating the house with my family (and now my boyfriend.)

Driving around town with my family and looking at Christmas lights (we call them pretty pretty pretty.)

Many many more.

17. What tops your tree?
As a kid we had a glass teddy bear in pjs until it broke (I believe.), Then we got a star, and then one year my mom used her grandpa's old vintage glass tree topper.

And this year we are usually my boyfriend's grandma's family old vintage glass tree topper. It is a lot like the old one my mom has.

18. Which do you prefer: giving or receiving?
Really I love both.

19. Candy canes: yuck or yum?
Yum, but I never finish them.

20. Favorite Christmas show?
Home Alone 1 and 2, Santa Claus (with Tim Allen), How The Grinch Stole Christmas (both the original cartoon and the live version.), and all of the old classic ones like Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Santa Claus is coming to Town, etc.

21. Saddest Christmas song?
Do They Know It's Christmas?

22. What’s your favorite Christmas song?
Silver Bells, Grandma Got Ran Over By A Reindeer, and many more.

I love the She and Him Christmas album.

Next up I am going to post pictures of my Christmas Decorations.

Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving !!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. Most people in the U.S. will be getting up, some may be watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade or a different one, and some people may be joining in a local Turkey Trot. Afterwards we will head to a family members house or stay home if you hosting Thanksgiving. During the day we will be helping make a Thanksgiving meal or watching football while others cook. Then we will all sit down to a meal with our family and friends at 1:00 pm which is called dinner but really more like lunch. We will give our thanks for the year and then eat until we are as stuffed as the turkey. Then we will rest until we have enough room to gobble down pumpkin pie, apple pie, or cherry pie. Many of us may be invited to more then one house on Thanksgiving so we will get to have two or three Thanksgivings.

I will be watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and then heading to my grandmothers house with my boyfriend for Thanksgiving with my dad's side of the family. Afterwards we will be stopping by my Aunt's house for my mom's side of the family. We will say hi and get to see my other Aunt who is coming home from Georgia. Then we will head home and have Thanksgiving dinner with my boyfriend's mom and grandma. Then at 8:00 pm I will be watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.

Today I am just relaxing at home with my boyfriend and then tonight we will be making a pumpkin pie for my boyfriend's family meal.
What are you doing for thanksgiving? Are you traveling to your family's homes or just staying home?

What I did on my 25th Birthday

Yesterday was my 25th Birthday so I figured I would make a what I did post.

I woke up early in the morning around 3:00 am having to go to the bathroom. My boyfriend just happened to be up also so I smiled and said it's my birthday. I then went back sleep after using the bathroom lol.

I think woke up three hours later to get ready to go out to breakfast for my birthday. I woke up early because it takes me awhile to get ready. We then left for breakfast around 9:00 am. I had a Belgian waffle grand slam because I always eat waffles on my birthday and I love waffles. And Tony had the French Toast grand slam.

After breakfast we went home and I got to open my presents from my boyfriend. He got me some great stuff. How I Met Your Mother season 6 on DVD, The Lion King on Blu-Ray, Fox and the Hound on Blu-Ray, Dumbo on Blu-Ray, and a gift card to our movie theater.

After opening presents we watched tv and just relaxed for awhile. Then for lunch I had birthday cake and blew out my candles.

After we had cake for lunch (it was my birthday so it's okay lol) we just hanged out at home and watched TV. I Also worked on my Twilight Link Up post from yesterday :-). We weren't doing anything else until the evening.

Around 4:30 pm I started getting ready to go out to dinner with my boyfriend, parents, two brothers, and my grandma. We were going to my favorite restaurant Logan's Roadhouse. We were suppose to meet my parents at 6:30 pm. We left early so we headed to Big Lots to look at Christmas Trees. We ended up buying a 7ft. one that was priced okay and looked some what real. We then headed over to the restaurant which was right across the street. I had my favorite drink a strawberry daiquiri and the chicken fried steak for dinner. I then opened my present's gifts and my grandma's gift.

My grandma just gave me a check like every year and my mom got me: A princess wine glass, a gift card to TJ Maxx (best place to find designer stuff cheaper), and a gift card to get my nails done. They had also previously paid for me to get my hair highlighted and got me some clothes.

They then sang Happy Birthday to me and I blew the candles out on cute strawberry cupcakes that my mom had made. After dinner Tony took me to get Starbucks and then we headed home. I had a pretty good birthday but now I am a tad sad that it is over lol.
